Thanks Calypso is a very interesting and distinctive result of work with wood, which is so characteristic of the author. Wood as a living substance has strongly enchanted Romana Grešák (like the nymph Calypso lured Odysseus) and inspired him to continued search for new, unconventional shapes. Using a language of symbols, he embeds his views and perceptions of the uniqueness of the world in his wood works.
The Thanks Calypso artefact symbolizes the perfection of being created by nature and elements. It also reflects the transience of this world and, last but not least, the author’s Odysseus-like wandering in a search for new forms of art.
